[CASE STUDY] Tiesto featuring Sarah McLachlan — UK Chart Campaign

[CASE STUDY] Tiesto featuring Sarah McLachlan — UK Chart Campaign

by: Geremy O'Mahony

Objective

The record label, Nettwerk Records, wanted national radio play. I had a bigger goal — getting the track playlisted on BBC Radio One, achieving maximum exposure, and aiming for a Top 5 UK chart position.

Process

We started with specialist DJs on KISS FM and BBC Radio One, targeting dance shows with immediate impact — including three consecutive weekends of airplay on Dave Pearce’s Dance Anthems. Once momentum built, we moved to drive-time slots where DJs had more freedom to play non-playlisted tracks. After consistent plays, I reached out to the Head of the Playlist, took him for breakfast, and pitched hard. Within four weeks, the track hit the BBC Radio One playlist — climbing from C-list to B-list, and finally to A-list for four weeks.

Outcome

The result was game-changing. The single hit No.1 in Ireland, No.2 in the UK, and sold over 500,000 copies. This wasn’t just a case of getting airplay — it was a full campaign that took the track from club-level buzz to mainstream chart success. A textbook example of strategic, persistent PR with serious results.

Testimonial

“Geremy from NBP was relentless in championing our track at BBC Radio One — not only securing playlist placement but pushing it all the way to the A-list. The result? Number 1 in Ireland, Number 2 in the UK charts, and over 500,000 sales. Truly mind-blowing service.”
